What is Frindow?

Frindow is all about getting you connected and engaged with new people. Play the video below to learn more about what we do.

Get Togethers

Meet people in person. Go to or organise a Get Together in or near to your local area. Nights out, day trips, or just a simple cup of tea and a chat with like-minded people.

Video Chat

Find it difficult to get out? Enjoy a live video chat and get that personal interaction with the new friends that you make.

Forums

Once you have joined the groups that suit you, forums are a great place to share, learn and have your say on things that matter to you.

Profiles

On Frindow you can be anonymous and just stick with the avatar that best represents you, or you can share a smile with others. Whichever you’re comfortable with, we cater for.

Our Mission

Our mission is to be a central hub for all things that can help you to make new friends and get connected. We recognise that people need to connect for different reasons. Frindow offers a place to start.

At different points in our lives we may feel bored, lonely, or isolated and need a change. These life circumstances can range from having a young child, being consumed by work or family life, retirement, living alone, old age, having a relationship breakdown, or just being fed up with singledom. The list could go on. All of this is normal and so very common, but it can also be uncomfortable and even debilitating when we’re going through it.

As well as introducing you to new people who understand you (because they are going through a similar thing themselves), we can also provide information about local or national groups or services that may be relevant to you.

Find the groups that best describe you. Take a look below to see examples of just a few.

Living Alone

If you're tired of going home to an empty flat or house at the end of a working day, or find weekends difficult because you have no-one to talk to, you are not alone. Why not break the cycle with others who are in the same situation?

Under 25s

Being young is no barrier to wanting to make new friends. If you’re 18 or over, we can put you in touch with other people your age for group Get Togethers and chat.

Mums & Dads

Being a parent, especially of a baby or young child is a full-time job with no training given. It can also be isolating. Talk to and meet other mums and dads for company and support.

Singletons

Fed up with online dating and going on fruitless dates? Go to a Get Together (bowling, cinema, picnics, lunches, drinks etc.) instead with a mixed group of other singletons. Low pressured, and if you don’t meet someone on that occasion, sit back and enjoy the company of the group.

Proxy Users

If you have an elderly relative or someone who you care about who is lonely or isolated, you can act as a Proxy User and use Frindow to talk to other Proxy Users and members to help your loved one get connected.

Retired

If you’re recently retired, making that adjustment can be difficult. Find out how you can get involved in or around your local area.

Coronavirus lockdown

Having to stay at home for a prolonged period is difficult, especially if you live alone. Get connected with your community and make new friends through the forums and live chat in the 'Coronavirus lockdown' group for your area.

Get Involved

If you’d like to get more involved in your local community but don’t know where to start, we can help by pointing you in the right direction. There’s lots of charities that would love your help, and it’s a great way to meet people and make new friends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my identity shared with other members?

No. We do ask for your first name, postcode and date of birth when joining, but this information is never revealed to other members. It just helps us improve our service to you. Adding a photo to your profile is optional.

Is Frindow free to use?

Mainly, yes. There are optional features that you can buy credits for. There are no subscriptions.

What is a Proxy User?

You can use Frindow for yourself, somebody else, or have a joint account for both of you. If you are using the site for somebody else, you’ll be seen as a Proxy User. You can then chat with other Proxy Users or standard users to help get your loved one connected offline or on video chat.

How do I know if a member is genuine?

We can’t background check our members as this would be intrusive and impractical. However, we do want to build a community of trust which is why users can choose to confirm their home address with us. Confirmed users have a badge on their profile so that you can make an informed decision on who to make contact with.

I live outside of the UK. Can I use Frindow?

Currently, Frindow is only available to UK residents. We will be expanding into other countries in the near future.

Let’s put that excitement back into your daily life.
